Alumnae Access to Databases

JSTOR, Project Muse and Sage Journals are well-liked, scholarly journal archives that offer backfiles (and sometimes more current issues) of core academic and university press journals in many disciplines. Increasingly, they are including scholarly ebooks as well.

McCain Library has licensed alumnae access to these three databases. Our contracts specify that other library research databases may be used by alumnae on-site at McCain Library; however, off-campus access, except to JSTOR, Project Muse and Sage, is not permitted.

  • JSTOR: Provides access to back issues of core journals in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. The complete backfiles of these journals, many of which began in the 1800s, have been digitized.
  • Project Muse: Full-text journals of many University Presses
  • Sage Journals: Full-text journals in the humanities, social sciences, health sciences, life sciences, and material sciences

How to Register for Access

Alumnae are eligible for remote/off-campus access to an account with these three resources. To request an account, send an email to library@agnesscott.edu. ASC graduates in good standing with McCain Library will be sent a link with which to create an account with these particular academic databases.

Cost

There is no charge for access to an account. An alumna gift to McCain Library covers the annual cost of alumnae access to JSTOR, Project Muse and Sage Journals.

Access to Additional Scholarly or Informational Databases

For access to additional scholarly resources beyond those available on-site at McCain Library's visitor computers, alumnae are encouraged to review the databases available through their public library system.

Many public libraries have excellent online collections that are available from a home or office computer using a secure username and password. Also, public libraries may be able to obtain articles for you through interlibrary loan. Alumnae in Georgia may have access to GALILEO (Georgia's digital library) through their .
