Teaching and Scholarly Interests
Dr. Daun Kwag (she/her) is an assistant professor in the clinical mental health counseling program at 香港澳门资料大全. She earned her Master of Arts in mental health counseling and behavioral medicine at Boston University and her Bachelor of Arts in music (violin performance) and English (British Literature) at Emory University. Dr. Kwag works as a professional counselor at the Research Institute for Counseling & Education (RICE), a Korean-owned private practice that primarily serves the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. She also serves as a board member of People’s Empowerment through Advocacy, Counseling, and Education (PEACE), a non-profit organization that seeks to reduce financial, linguistic and awareness barriers to culturally responsive mental health treatment for the AANHPI population. Dr. Kwag’s scholarly expertise includes AANHPI wellness, migrant experiences, trauma and meaning-making, anti-oppressive and decolonizing practices in counselor education and culturally responsive research practices. She was also a 2023-2024 Doctoral Fellow for the National Board for Certified Counselors and a 2022-2023 Intern for Chi Sigma Iota International. In her free time, Dr. Kwag performs at weddings and special events with her string quartet and enjoys reading for fun, cooking food and nourishing relationships with loved ones.
