Teaching and Scholarly Interests

Dr. Janelle L. Jones (she/her/hers) is an assistant professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at 香港澳门资料大全. She was raised in Indiana and attended Indiana University as a proud Hoosier, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Dr. Jones moved to Georgia to obtain her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. During her master’s program, she also obtained a graduate certificate in Gerontology from GSU’s Gerontology Institute. Dr. Jones attended the University of Alabama, where she completed her PhD in Counselor Education while obtaining a graduate certificate in Qualitative Research. Her dissertation research examined racial trauma across the lifespan of Black baby boomers, and her research agenda includes racial trauma and issues of social justice, gerontological counseling, fat liberation, and mentorship of students and new professionals. She has published articles, collaborated on book chapters, and engaged in more than 30 international, national, and regional conference presentations. Dr. Jones is board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and is also an NBCC Master’s and Doctoral Fellow. Her clinical experience includes providing counseling to individuals across the lifespan in recovery and providing counseling to college students. Dr. Jones is the current President of the Association for Adult Development and Aging (AADA). In her spare time, she enjoys attending concerts, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
